Digital ID cards can be accessed 24/7 by creating an account with BCBSMA online at bluecrossma.org or by downloading the MYBLUE app to your smart phone or device. To create your account, you will need to use your Member ID number.

Follow these steps to find your Member ID on the Care26 Portal:

1. Visit students.care26.com and log in.
2. Click on the Menu button located in the top-left corner of your dashboard and select "My Insurance."
3. Find and select the “Enrollment” link for your coverage that is currently in an “Active” status.
   • Note: Enrollments that are in a "Pending" status are still waiting on a Member ID assignment from the insurance carrier.
4. Your Member ID can be found in the details section of your enrollment.

Change Address, Phone, or Email

It is very important to make sure that your address, phone number, and email address on file at the school are current and accurate. If not, ID cards, explanation of benefits and other notifications about your student health insurance plan may not get to you. If you have moved or your contact information has changed, please make sure you update your contact information with your school.

You may update your information at any time at students.care26.com/profile.

You are eligible, but not required to be enrolled.

MIT Sloan Visiting Fellows participate in a non-degree course of study for students, professionals, and MIT alumni.
If you are an MIT Sloan Visiting Fellow and you want MIT SHIP, you must affirmatively enroll in coverage. You will not be automatically enrolled, and you will not be required to demonstrate comparable health insurance coverage. The MIT Registrar's Office determines whether an individual is an MIT Sloan Visiting Fellow for the purposes of health insurance eligibility.

You are eligible to enroll, but not required to enroll

Exchange students and exchange scholars must affirmatively enroll in the MIT Student Health Insurance Plan and will not be required to demonstrate comparable coverage from another source

You will be automatically enrolled

Visiting students who, are Registered in Course NIV; and  and are not included in any other student categories as described in Section 1.0, including students who have withdrawn or are on leave.  will be automatically enrolled in the MIT Student Health Insurance Plan, with the exception of visiting students who are actively enrolled in and insured by a higher educational institution in Massachusetts.  MIT Registrar’s Office and the International Scholar Office are the sole sources of data for visiting students

MIT Executive MBA students are enrolled in the MIT Executive Master’s in Business Administration program at the Sloan School.

If you are enrolled in the MIT Executive MBA program and you want MIT SHIP, you must affirmatively enroll in coverage. You will not be automatically enrolled, and you will not be required to demonstrate comparable health insurance coverage. The MIT Registrar's Office determines whether an individual is a Sloan Executive MBA student for the purposes of health insurance eligibility.

• Other MIT-affiliated individuals* and their family members, may be eligible for MIT SHIP dependent on their specific appointment details.
  Titles that may be eligible include:
  • Postdoctoral Fellows
  • Senior Postdoctoral Fellows
  • Research Fellows
  • Senior Research Fellows

*You must have an MIT appointment (at least 50% time) for a minimum of three months. Contact your DLCI administrator to verify your eligibility.

If you are a student enrolled in a degree-granting program at MIT, you can enroll in the dental plan. If you enroll in the plan, you may also add your family members — spouse/partner and dependent child(ren).

The dental plan offers full coverage for routine diagnostic and preventative dental services once every six months, including emergency exams and periodic X-rays. It pays for 80 percent of other dental services, such as fillings (composite or silver) and root canal procedures — up to $1,500 per year — after a $50 deductible. The dental plan does not cover braces, orthodontics, or cosmetic procedures such as teeth whitening.  

All premiums are billed to the student’s MITPay account. Premiums are split into two charges, one charge for Fall, and another charge for Spring/Summer.

In accordance with the MIT and MIT-GSU collective bargaining agreement (CBA), eligible enrolled graduate students now receive an 83.8% subsidy for the MIT Student Dental Insurance Plan. If you are eligible, the subsidy will be applied to your MIT student account after you enroll.

How do I know if I’m eligible for the dental plan subsidy? If eligible, when and how will I receive my reimbursement? 

To determine if you are eligible for the subsidy, see this webpage. If you have questions about your eligibility, send an email to [email protected]. AHP cannot answer questions about dental subsidies.

Note: When you enroll in the dental plan, you will see the full cost of coverage in AHP, even if you are eligible for the subsidy. If you qualify for the subsidy, you will see the cost difference in your MITPay account after you enroll.

If you are a student enrolled in a degree-granting program at MIT, you can enroll in the vision plan.

Only students are eligible for the MIT Student Insurance Vision Plan. Coverage is NOT offered for spouses, domestic partners, or children/dependents.

All premiums are billed to the student’s MITPay account. Premiums are billed in a single lump sum.
